Care assistant job requirements vary by employer and location, but the live sample gives you a clear starting point: personal care appeared most often, followed by medication support and dementia care. Licence language was also common. Experience wording was less consistent than many applicants assume.

The figures below come from a [YourUnique.cv](https://yourunique.cv) Job Radar corpus snapshot dated 2026-09-15. It contained 579,828 active postings. The Care Assistant slice contained 3,008 active titles matching Care Assistant. A random sample of 50 job descriptions was used for the repeated requirements.

Use the sample to decide what to check in your CV. Do not copy a requirement you cannot support. Instead, scan current postings and match your real experience to the wording used there.

## The repeated Care Assistant requirements

These are the most repeated skill areas in the 50-post sample:

| Requirement area | Share of sampled postings | What to look for in your CV |
|---|---:|---|
| Personal care | 50% | Clear evidence of the personal care tasks you have performed, where applicable |
| Medication support | 26% | Accurate wording about medication support that reflects your actual responsibility |
| Dementia care | 20% | Specific examples of dementia care experience, if you have it |

Personal care was the leading requirement in the sample. If your background includes it, do not hide it inside a broad sentence such as “helped residents with daily needs.” Name the area directly and explain what you did.

Medication support appeared in just over one quarter of the sample. That does not mean every Care Assistant role includes it. It means you should check each posting and make your experience easy to find when the role asks for it.

Dementia care appeared in one fifth of the sample. Add it only when it reflects your work, placement, training, or other genuine experience. Do not add it because it appears in a posting.

## Licence and experience wording

Licence language appeared in 58% of the sampled postings. The snapshot does not establish one universal licence requirement. Read the exact wording in each live posting and state your real status accurately.

Only 30% of sampled postings mentioned years of experience. Among the postings that did, the median stated figure was 18. That statistic should not be treated as an employer cutoff. It describes the number stated in that subset of postings, not a standard requirement for all Care Assistant jobs.

This matters when you write your CV. Do not put an unsupported number beside your job history. If a posting asks for experience you have, show where and how you gained it. If the posting uses licence language, make your actual licence information easy to locate.

For comparison, the same live-posting approach can help you research other roles. See [QA Engineer Job Requirements: What Live Postings Ask For](https://yourunique.cv/articles/qa-engineer-job-requirements) and [Account Manager Job Requirements: Skills Live Posts Ask For](https://yourunique.cv/articles/account-manager-job-requirements) for examples of how requirement patterns differ by role.

## Where these postings appear

The Care Assistant role slice was heavily onsite. The reported workplace mix was:

| Workplace type | Share of active Care Assistant postings |
|---|---:|
| Onsite | 95% |
| Hybrid | 0% |
| Remote | 4% |

The percentages are reported from the snapshot and total 99% because of rounding. The practical point is simple: search with your location in mind. Remote roles were a small part of this slice, while onsite roles dominated.

The most frequent locations in the snapshot included Birmingham, England, United Kingdom, with 47 postings; the United States, with 37; Bromley, England, United Kingdom, with 11; Smethwick, England, United Kingdom, with 11; Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom, with 11; Rochester, England, United Kingdom, with 11; Preston, England, United Kingdom, with 10; and Lincoln, Nebraska, United States, with 10.

The ATS sources in the slice were SmartRecruiters, Breezy, Greenhouse, Workable, Lever, and Pinpoint. This is useful if you usually search only one job board. Public company career pages can contain relevant openings across several ATS systems.

## Five CV bullets that evidence the top skills

Use these as structures, not as facts to paste unchanged. Replace the figures and details with your own evidence. Remove any bullet that does not describe work you actually performed.

- Supported personal care for 12 residents per shift, following individual routines and recording completed care accurately.
- Provided personal care across morning and evening routines for 8 residents, helping maintain consistent daily support.
- Supported medication routines for 10 residents in line with assigned procedures and reported concerns to the appropriate colleague.
- Provided dementia care for 6 residents, adapting daily support to individual routines and recording relevant changes.
- Combined personal care, medication support, and dementia care across 4 shifts per week while keeping records current and clear.

The metrics above are examples. They are not claims about the live postings. Use your own counts, shift pattern, or scope. If you cannot verify a number, leave it out.

A weak bullet often names a duty without showing its scope:

“Helped with personal care and medication.”

A clearer version identifies the area and the evidence:

“Supported personal care for 12 residents per shift and assisted with medication routines in line with assigned procedures.”

The second version is still only useful if it is true. Do not claim medication responsibility when your role did not include it. Do not present dementia care as experience if you have not provided it.

## How to scan live Care Assistant openings

Start with the live posting rather than rewriting your whole CV from memory. On [Job Radar](https://yourunique.cv/job-radar), finish your career profile and run Find jobs for me. The board matches your profile against live public ATS postings and prefers your city. Remote results stay in the board only when the posting appears hireable in your country.

Use this scan before tailoring each application:

- [ ] Confirm that the title is Care Assistant or a close match to your target role.
- [ ] Check whether the workplace is onsite, hybrid, or remote.
- [ ] Note the location and whether the role fits your travel limits.
- [ ] Find any wording about personal care.
- [ ] Check whether medication support is requested.
- [ ] Check whether dementia care is requested.
- [ ] Look for licence language and compare it with your real status.
- [ ] Check whether the posting states years of experience.
- [ ] Mark each requirement as evidenced, partly evidenced, or not evidenced.
- [ ] Tailor only the requirements your background supports.

This process prevents a common mistake: treating every phrase in one posting as a universal requirement. The snapshot shows variation. Some postings mention experience years. Most in the sample did not. Some mention medication support or dementia care. Personal care was more frequent, but it still must be supported by your own background.

## A practical tailoring method

Create a short requirement map for each posting. Put the three repeated skill areas in separate rows, then add licence and experience wording when the posting includes them.

| Posting wording to check | Your evidence | CV action |
|---|---|---|
| Personal care | Your real tasks, setting, and scope | Put the clearest evidence near the top of relevant experience |
| Medication support | Your actual level of responsibility | Use precise wording. Do not imply duties you did not perform |
| Dementia care | Your genuine dementia care experience | Add a specific bullet only when supported |
| Licence language | Your actual licence status | State it accurately and make it easy to find |
| Experience wording | Your relevant background | Show dates or scope without inventing years |

Your CV does not need to repeat every phrase. It needs to make relevant evidence readable. If a requirement is missing from your background, leave it out or address it honestly. Do not claim missing experience to raise a checker result.

If you are testing one posting manually, the [job description keyword extractor](https://yourunique.cv/free-tools/job-description-keyword-extractor) can list must-haves, tools, and nice-to-haves from pasted text. An optional resume PDF can show which extracted keywords already appear in the file. It does not rewrite your CV.

## What the Job Radar result means

Job Radar scores matches in the style of a tailored-CV ATS read. It is not the employer's Workday, Greenhouse, SmartRecruiters, or other ATS score. Use the match to decide which live cards deserve a closer read, then verify the posting and tailor your application.

The free option includes one promo search, 10 cards, and 5 readable cards. The remaining cards are locked. Pro includes the first run plus daily new unique jobs, up to 50 readable cards, and Generate CV on a match. Generate CV starts a CV flow from the selected match. It writes from your profile facts only.

The board reads public ATS career pages. It does not ingest LinkedIn, Indeed, Naukri, or Workday. Chat can browse jobs already on your board, but it does not start a new corpus search.

## Apply-today checklist

- [ ] Open [Job Radar](https://yourunique.cv/job-radar).
- [ ] Finish your career profile with accurate experience and location details.
- [ ] Run Find jobs for me.
- [ ] Read the Care Assistant cards that fit your city and work preferences.
- [ ] Open the full posting before applying.
- [ ] Check personal care, medication support, dementia care, licence language, and experience wording.
- [ ] Tailor your CV using only evidence you can support.
- [ ] Add measurable scope only when the number is accurate.
- [ ] Test one posting with a checker if useful, without treating its score as the employer's ATS result.
- [ ] Apply through the employer's listed process and record the posting for follow-up.

Start with the live cards, then adjust the CV to the role you are actually applying for. That is more reliable than writing one generic Care Assistant CV and sending it everywhere.
