## The requirements that repeat most often

Roadmapping was the leading repeated requirement. It appeared in 42% of the sampled job descriptions. This points to a common expectation: an Engineering Manager should connect technical work to delivery priorities and make tradeoffs visible.

These examples are deliberately generic. Pick only the technologies and methods you actually used. For a management-led role, put the decision and outcome first. Then name the technical context. For a hands-on role, the technical action may come earlier.

A weak bullet says, “Managed the engineering roadmap.” A stronger version says, “Owned a quarterly engineering roadmap for [number] engineers, reducing delayed priorities by [percentage] through dependency reviews.” The second version gives a reader something to assess. It also creates a natural place for the roadmapping term.

## How to read the experience and education signals

Sixty percent of the sampled job descriptions mentioned years of experience. Among those posts, the median stated number was 5. That does not create a standard Engineering Manager cutoff. It tells you to inspect the specific posting and present the scope of your work clearly.
