Start with the requirements that repeat most often, then verify them against live postings. In this QA Engineer job requirements snapshot, CI/CD appeared in 48% of sampled postings. SQL appeared in 32%. Agile and Python each appeared in 30%. These are signals for how to organize your search and resume, not instructions to add skills you do not have.
What this QA Engineer snapshot covers
The data comes from a Job Radar corpus snapshot dated 2026-09-15. The full corpus contained 579,828 active postings. The QA Engineer slice contained 1,130 active titles matching QA Engineer.
The postings came from public company career pages and ATS sources such as Greenhouse, SmartRecruiters, Ashby, Workable, Lever, and Breezy. The slice included 351 Greenhouse postings, 175 SmartRecruiters postings, 166 Ashby postings, 164 Workable postings, 131 Lever postings, and 44 Breezy postings.
A random sample of 50 job descriptions was used to calculate the skill shares below. A percentage means that the term appeared in that sample. It does not mean that every QA Engineer posting requires the skill.
Repeated skills in the sample
| Skill or requirement | Share of 50 sampled postings |
|---|---|
| CI/CD | 48% |
| SQL | 32% |
| Agile | 30% |
| Python | 30% |
| Git | 28% |
| Java | 28% |
| Playwright | 28% |
| REST APIs | 24% |
| Jira | 22% |
| Selenium | 22% |
| Cypress | 18% |
| Linux | 18% |
CI/CD leads the list by a clear margin. If you have real CI/CD work, put it where a reviewer can find it quickly. State what you did, such as maintaining test execution in a pipeline, investigating failed runs, or reporting release readiness. Use the exact term only when it accurately describes your work.
SQL, Agile, Python, Git, Java, and Playwright form the next group. The list also shows that QA Engineer work can span test automation, development languages, source control, delivery processes, and test data. REST APIs, Jira, Selenium, Cypress, and Linux appear often enough to check each new posting carefully.
Do not turn the table into a keyword inventory. A skill without evidence is weak resume content. If you used Selenium but not Playwright, describe Selenium accurately. Do not replace it with Playwright because it appears more often in this sample.
Workplace patterns and location signals
The workplace mix in the 1,130-posting slice was:
| Workplace type | Share of active QA Engineer titles |
|---|---|
| Onsite | 42% |
| Hybrid | 26% |
| Remote | 32% |
Onsite was the largest group, while remote still represented nearly one third of the slice. Treat workplace type as a search filter, not as a promise that a role is available from any country. A remote posting can still limit hiring to a particular country.
Frequent locations in the snapshot included the United States, Kyiv, India, Remote, Bengaluru, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, and Kyiv | Київ, UA. Each of the first three location labels appeared 19 times. Remote appeared 15 times. Bengaluru, KA, India appeared 12 times. Kyiv | Київ, UA and Bengaluru each appeared 11 times. Bengaluru, Karnataka, India appeared 10 times.
Location labels can be inconsistent. Search by your preferred city, then read the eligibility details before spending time tailoring an application.
Experience and education language
When a sampled posting stated years of experience, the median was 4. A total of 62% of sampled posts mentioned years. This is a description of the sample, not a universal requirement or an employer cutoff. If you have less experience, focus your resume on the scope and results of work you have completed.
Education language was less common. Bachelor appeared in 26% of sampled posts. Degree or equivalent appeared in 10%. Do not infer a degree requirement when a specific posting does not state one. Read the individual posting and answer its stated requirements truthfully.
For comparison, Software Engineer Job Requirements: What Live ATS Postings Ask For and DevOps Engineer Job Requirements from Live ATS Postings can help you compare adjacent engineering searches. Their skill patterns should not be copied into a QA Engineer resume without evidence.
Five sample bullets that evidence repeated skills
These are patterns, not claims you should copy. Replace the placeholders and metrics with facts from your own work. Remove any bullet that does not describe something you actually did.
- Built and maintained CI/CD test execution for [number] releases, reducing manual regression time by [percentage] while tracking failed runs to resolution.
- Wrote SQL checks for [data area], validating [number] test cases and identifying [number] defects before release.
- Used Python and Git to maintain automated tests across [number] repositories, with code review and repeatable test execution.
- Created Playwright tests for [feature area], covering [number] critical flows and reducing repeated manual checks by [percentage].
- Tested REST APIs and logged defects in Jira within an Agile delivery cycle, helping the team resolve [number] release-blocking issues.
Each bullet answers at least one practical question: what did you test, which tool or process did you use, and what changed? If you used Java, Selenium, Cypress, or Linux instead, write a truthful bullet around that experience. Do not use the sample metrics unless they are yours.
A practical scan and tailor process
First, search the live market. Then tailor to a specific posting. Use this checklist while reviewing QA Engineer cards:
- Open Job Radar and finish your career profile.
- Run Find jobs for me.
- Filter your reading by the city you prefer.
- Check whether each posting is onsite, hybrid, or remote.
- Confirm that a remote role appears hireable in your country.
- Read the full card before deciding that a repeated keyword fits your background.
- Mark the listed skills you can support with resume evidence.
- Separate must-have language from tools listed as helpful or optional.
- Note the ATS source and the location label.
- Save the posting link and closing details before tailoring.
The free Job Radar experience includes one promo search, 10 cards, and 5 readable cards. Pro includes the first run plus daily new unique jobs, up to 50 readable cards, and Generate CV on a match. The board prefers your candidate city. Remote results stay only when the posting looks hireable in that country.
Use the board to find public ATS postings. It does not ingest LinkedIn, Indeed, Naukri, or Workday. Its score is a tailored-CV ATS read, not the employer's Workday, Greenhouse, or other ATS score. Chat can browse jobs already on your board, but it does not start a new corpus search.
After you select a posting, tailor in this order:
- Put the strongest supported requirement in your summary or skills area.
- Move the most relevant QA work higher in your experience section.
- Add the exact tool name only when your experience supports it.
- Rewrite bullets around test scope, process, and result.
- Remove generic claims that do not prove QA work.
- Check the final PDF for readable text and consistent dates.
If you are testing only one posting, the job description keyword extractor can list must-haves, tools, and nice-to-haves from pasted text. An optional resume PDF shows which keywords already appear in the file. It does not tell you to claim missing skills, and it does not rewrite your CV.
You can also sign up for YourUnique.cv to upload a resume, keep its layout or choose a template, paste a job description or link, and generate a CV from profile facts only. On a Pro readable match, Generate CV starts that same flow. Review every generated line before using it.

Questions
- What are the most common QA Engineer job requirements in the sample?
- CI/CD appeared in 48% of sampled QA Engineer postings. SQL appeared in 32%. Agile and Python each appeared in 30%. Git, Java, and Playwright each appeared in 28%.
- Does the sample mean every QA Engineer job requires four years of experience?
- No. Of the sampled posts, 62% mentioned years of experience, and the median stated amount was 4 years. That describes the sample language, not an employer cutoff.
- How can I find current QA Engineer postings on company career pages?
- Open [Job Radar](https://yourunique.cv/job-radar), finish your career profile, and run Find jobs for me. It matches the profile against live public ATS postings and shows readable job cards based on your location preferences.
- Can I test one QA Engineer posting against my resume?
- Yes. The [ATS resume checker](https://yourunique.cv/free-tools/ats-resume-checker) compares a resume PDF with a pasted job description and reports a match score, missing keywords, and gaps. Its score is not an employer's Workday or Greenhouse number.
- Can Job Radar write a tailored CV for a QA Engineer match?
- On Pro, Generate CV can start the CV flow from a readable match. It uses facts from your profile and the selected job, then provides an ATS read against that job.
