Keep each bullet under two lines where possible.

The instruction matters. It limits the draft to known facts and names the terms that matter for this application.

Before and after resume snippet

Before:

Helped customers get started and worked with different teams to improve the process.

This is hard to assess. It has no tool, scope, action, or result.

After:

Onboarded small business customers in Salesforce and reduced average launch time from 14 days to 9 days by documenting handoff steps with product and support teams.

The revised bullet is stronger because it contains:

• A clear action: onboarded.
• A relevant tool: Salesforce.
• A measurable result: 14 days to 9 days.
• A process term: documenting handoff steps.
• Cross-functional context: product and support teams.

Do not copy the revised version if any part is inaccurate. If you used a different CRM, replace Salesforce. If the time reduction came from a team effort and you cannot claim personal ownership, change the wording to reflect that.

Five-bullet worked example

Here is a short set of bullets that stays inside the stated facts:

The final resume can combine related facts when that makes the result clearer. Do not repeat the same keyword in every bullet. Use the terms where they describe real work.

ATS checks for a GPT-assisted resume

An ATS usually needs to extract basic information correctly before a recruiter reviews it. Check these areas:

File and layout

Use a selectable-text PDF unless the application specifically requests another format. Avoid putting key information in images, charts, text boxes, or headers and footers that may be read separately from the main content.

Use a familiar layout. A single-column document is often easier to inspect and copy. Keep contact details together. Use consistent dates such as May 2021 to March 2024.

Standard headings reduce ambiguity:

• Professional Experience
• Education
• Certifications

A decorative design may look good to a person and still create extraction problems. If you need layout options, review templates, then test the selected file instead of assuming the design is readable.

Keywords

Read the job description for exact terms that describe required skills, tools, certifications, and tasks. Add a term only when it is true for you. Do not turn a keyword list into a block of unrelated phrases.

For example, if the job says customer onboarding, use that phrase if it accurately describes your work. Do not replace it with a vague phrase such as client success activities when the exact wording is available and accurate.

Place important skills in the Skills section and in relevant experience bullets. A Skills section alone gives less context than a bullet that explains how you used the skill.

Evidence in bullets

A GPT tool often produces polished language that says little. Remove lines such as responsible for various tasks or worked with stakeholders to drive success unless the next words explain what you did and what changed.

A practical bullet pattern is:

Action + task or tool + scope or method + result

You do not need every part in every bullet. You do need enough detail for a reader to understand the work.
