The slice is sourced from public company career pages using ATS systems such as Greenhouse, Ashby, Lever, SmartRecruiters, Workable, and similar sources. It is not a LinkedIn scrape. The largest named ATS sources in this slice were Greenhouse with 2,332 postings, Ashby with 1,076, Lever with 524, SmartRecruiters with 306, Workable with 243, and Rippling with 110.

The most frequent locations were San Francisco with 112 postings, Remote with 100, United States with 74, San Francisco, CA, United States with 71, New York City with 57, San Mateo, CA, United States with 54, London with 53, and New York, NY with 52.

For workplace type, the slice was 36% onsite, 35% hybrid, and 28% remote. Treat this as a market snapshot. It does not mean every employer uses the same workplace label or that every remote role accepts applicants in every country.

Repeated skills in the sampled postings

The following figures come from 50 randomly selected job descriptions in the Senior Software Engineer slice. They show how often a requirement appeared in that sample. They do not rank every skill an employer may value, and they are not a pass or fail threshold.

AWS, Python, and React tied for the highest share. That does not mean you should add all three to your CV. Include a skill only when your background supports it. A missing keyword is a prompt to inspect the posting and your evidence, not permission to claim experience you do not have.

CI/CD and TypeScript were close behind. PostgreSQL, Java, budgeting, Git, Kubernetes, C++, and Kafka also appeared often enough to affect how you screen roles. Their value depends on the job you want and the work you can document.

Experience and education signals

When a sampled post stated years of experience, the median was 5. Years appeared in 70% of the sampled posts. This is useful for setting expectations, but it is not an employer cutoff. Some posts may weigh scope, technical decisions, delivery, or leadership differently.

Education language was less common than the skills table. Degree or equivalent appeared in 18% of sampled posts. Bachelor appeared in 16%. Do not assume a degree is required for every Senior Software Engineer opening. Read the wording on each live posting.

A good senior-level bullet gives the reader a technical action, the area of responsibility, and a measurable result. It does not need to list every tool in the environment. It needs to make your contribution clear.

If a role emphasizes budgeting, describe a real planning or ownership responsibility only if you have one. If it emphasizes Kubernetes, C++, Java, or another listed skill, connect the skill to a project, system, or result you can explain in an interview.

How to scan live openings before tailoring

Use this process for each Senior Software Engineer card you open on Job Radar:

Do not use the table as a universal senior engineer specification. Use it to decide what to inspect first. AWS, Python, React, CI/CD, and TypeScript were frequent in this sample.
